CPAEF Supports Research by Dr. Ray Zhang

David Chiang CPA CA presents research grant to Barb Martineau and Dr. Ray Zhang of SFU.

The CPA Education Foundation has awarded Dr. Ray Zhang, assistant professor at Simon Fraser University and Finning Research Fellow, a $10,000 grant to be used as seed funding for his research on “Mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosures.”

Dr. Zhang’s research will examine whether mandatory corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosures impact the organization’s actual environmental, social and governance performance.  The introduction of a CSR reporting requirement for a selected group of firms traded on the China stock exchanges in 2008 provides a unique research setting for his proposed study.

The CPAEF’s grant will be used to subscribe to the China Security Market and Accounting Research database and the sharing of this dataset with academic colleagues and PhD students at SFU.

Said Dr. Zhang, “Thank you to the CPAEF and for its support of SFU faculty and research.”
