Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) held their annual Donor Appreciation dinner on November 22, 2018 at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel in Surrey.

The event was hosted by the KPU Foundation and emceed by Stephanie Howes, KPU Interim Dean of Business.   Remarks were provided by Dr. Alan Davis, president and vice-Chancellor of KPU.

The evening provided an opportunity for donors and award recipients to meet each other.  Over $182,000 was awarded to KPU students that evening.

Kathy Rogers CPA CGA, chair of the CPABC Surrey/Langley/North Delta, and Carl Markwart CPA CGA, past chair, attended this event on behalf of the chapter and the CPA Education Foundation.

Carl Markwart delivered the donor address on behalf of all donors in attendance.  In his speech, he highlighted the Chapter’s recent matching pledge of $10,000 towards the David Sale FCPA FCGA Endowment Fund as an example of the ways in which donors can support KPU students by honouring the legacy of unique individuals.

David Sale was a long time instructor at KPU as well as being a former board chair of CGA-BC and co-chair of the CPABC Joint Venture organization.

In addition to the matching gift, the CPAEF supports several student awards and has provided funding for faculty development.  The CPAEF is delighted to celebrate 25 Years of Giving to KPU.

This year’s KPU Student recipients included:

CPAEF Awards – Zachary Bay and Sandy Chu; and

CPABC Surrey/Langley/North Delta Award – Davinder Bhatti (pictured below)

Congratulations to these KPU students.  Good luck as you pursue your careers in accounting.
