Speaker Series: SFU Beedie School of Business Awarded $5,000 Grant

The CPA Education Foundation has awarded a $5,000 Speaker Series grant to Simon Fraser University – Beedie School of Business to support faculty development.

The following three prominent academics have delivered presentations about their research:

  • Dr. Brian Miller from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University (October 15, 2018) on his paper “The Local Spillover Effect of Corporate Accounting Misconduct: Evidence from City Crime Rates”;
  • Dr. Bjorn Jorgensen from the London School of Economics (November 2, 2018) on “Multiple Regulators and Accounting Restatements: Evidence from Canada”; and
  • Dr. Gaizka Ormazabal from the IESE Business School (November 28, 2018) on “Towards Boards of Supervisors? Fit and Proper Assessments by ECB.”

The application for funding was submitted by Dr. Karel Hrazdil PhD CPA CGA.

The CPAEF is delighted to continue its long standing support of SFU accounting faculty.
