The CPA Education Foundation of BC (CPAEF) has awarded a Speaker Series grant of $2,500 to Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) to support faculty development.
This Speaker Series event is entitled, “Integrating data analytics and information systems into the accounting classroom,” and features Dr. Guido Geerts PhD, a professor and Ernst & Young faculty scholar at the Lerner College of Business, University of Delaware, where he teaches accounting information systems and big data technologies. Dr. Geerts has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, research and service. He is the former chair of the Pathways Commission Recommendation 4 (curriculum and pedagogy).
The grant application was submitted by KPU faculty members Valerie Warren and Taryn Greig. The event is planned for September 2019. Since inception of the Speaker Series program, KPU has received almost $24,000 in funding to support faculty development.
The CPAEF awards Speaker Series grants to BC post-secondary institutions of up to $2,500 up to twice a year to support faculty development. Application forms are available on the CPAEF website under the “Helping Faculty” tab.
