Simon Fraser University held their annual garden party atop Burnaby Mountain on May 1, 2018 to express their gratitude for the important role that donors, like the CPA Education Foundation (CPAEF), play in the life of the university.
The event was held at the Mowafaghian Atrium at Blusson Hall at the university’s Burnaby Mountain campus. SFU president Andrew Petter hosted the event which included speeches in recognition of student achievement, appreciation to alumni and friends of SFU.
David Chiang CPA CA, CPABC’s Vice-President Member Advice & Programs, attended the event and represented the CPAEF. Chiang said, “the CPAEF is proud of its many decades of support for SFU students and faculty and we wish SFU continued success.”
During the past year, the CPAEF has actively supported SFU in the following ways:
– 5 annual students awards including the CPAEF Business Administration Co-op Award ($2000), CPAEF Desmond O’Brien Award ($2,000), CPAEF Marion Easton Award ($2,000), CPAEF Award ($2,000), and CPABC Surrey/Langley/N.Delta Chapter Award ($1,500);
– Support for faculty development and accounting research through an Accounting Development Fund; and
– Funding the development of cases for use in the Aboriginal Executive MBA program.
The CPAEF looks forward to continuing its support in the years ahead.
