Selkirk College has received two $1,000 Speaker Series grants to support faculty development. The first event is a hand-on workshop on Cloud Accounting to develop faculty skills using cloud based accounting software (Xero Software) with proposed speaker Alyssa Bryden. The second event is on Sustainability Reporting, with Ivy Wan of KPMG, which intends to explore reporting issues from the perspective of what students may be required to understand when they enter their professional careers. Dates for these workshops will be announced once venue and speakers are confirmed.
These grant applications were submitted by Naomi Havard CPA, an instructor of business courses at Selkirk College. This is the first time the college has received this type of funding from the CPAEF.
Brenda Waechter, FCPA FCGA, CPAEF Board Chair said, “the CPAEF is delighted to support academic members at Selkirk College and wish them success with their Speaker Series events.”
The CPAEF has a Speaker Series program whereby BC post secondary institutions can apply for grants of up to $2,500 up to twice a year to support faculty development. To find out more, visit the CPAEF website under “Helping Faculty”.
