The CPAEF’s support includes two $1,000 student scholarships for business students who have achieved scholastic excellence and who have the intent to purse the CPA program. Since funding these scholarships over 25 years ago, over $80,000 has been awarded to Capilano University students (previously Capilano College). Many of these alumni have gone on to become professional accountants and leaders in the business community.
In addition, the CPAEF supports Capilano University’s accounting and business faculty with their professional development. Under the PD Academic Passport Program, faculty members can receive two complimentary days of PD training offered through the CPABC PD program. In 2017/18, seven Capilano University faculty registered for this program which has an annual value of over $6,300. The cost of the PD Passports is covered by the CPAEF.
Judith Watson, FCPA FCMA, who is a member of the CPAEF Board of Governors as well as an instructor and Convenor Accounting & Finance in the Capilano School of Business, said “the CPAEF is proud to be a member of the Chancellor’s Circle, which recognizes donors for their long term support. The foundation looks forward to working with Capilano University to develop enhanced supports for both students and accounting faculty.”
David Chiang, CPA CA, CPABC’s vice-president member services added, “the CPAEF congratulates Capilano University’s as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2018. The Capilano School of Business continues to make a tremendous impact in the community.”
