CPABC Okanagan Chapter Funds Two Awards

Convocation Caps in air

The CPABC Okanagan Chapter has funded two continuing scholarships at Okanagan College.  These awards are worth $950 each and are awarded to 3rd or 4th year students who have achieved high academic standing, have an intention to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant program, and who have demonstrated community involvement or leadership. Okanagan College selects the recipients.

These awards were made possible by Robert Ryan CPA, CGA a professor at Okanagan College who donated his time to present a chapter PD course, “Ethics and Accountancy in BC within the Merged Entity.”  Proceeds from this chapter PD session, which was held on November 20, 2015, were donated to the CPA Education Foundation which coordinated with Okanagan Foundation to fund these awards.  This is the second year that these scholarships are being offered at Okanagan College.

Kathy Butler of Okanagan Foundation said, “donors like you are making  significant difference in the lives of students, who will go on to accomplish great things for our region.  The growth in community support for student awards in recent years has been phenomenal and you have been an instrumental part of that success.”  The CPAEF thanks the CPABC Okanagan Chapter and the members for their ongoing generosity in supporting students in the Okanagan region.
