The CPABC North Shore/Sunshine Coast Chapter intends to create a new scholarship award at Capilano University to support a 3rd or 4th year student in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program who has the desire to enter the CPA program.

The chapter made an initial donation of $1,200 to the CPAEF (with a pending request for the CPAEF to match this amount) to create an annual $1,000 award committed for three years. It is the chapter’s plan to continue funding this award, whenever practicable, from surplus Chapter PD funds.

The donation was presented to the CPAEF on April 9, 2019 by chapter representative Raji Dhaliwal CPA.  Dhaliwal is pictured below (left) standing beside David Chiang CPA CA, CPABC’s vice-president member advice and programs.

Judith Watson, FCPA FCMA, vice-chair of the CPAEF and faculty member at Capilano University said, “this generous donation is appreciated and a wonderful way to celebrate Capilano University’s 50th anniversary.”

Dhaliwal’s comments were also echoed by chapter board member and past-chair, Faranak Leilaby CPA CGA, who has been a strong advocate and champion for this initiative.

Brenda Waechter FCPA FCGA, CPAEF board chair said, “The CPAEF is proud to be a member of Capilano University’s Chancellors Circle which recognizes long term donors with sustained giving.” She added, “we are delighted to continue our support of local accounting students.”
