CPABC Chapters Support Awards for Local Students

New Awards for BC Students

CPABC has chapters across the province comprised of members who volunteer their time to organize social networking, professional development, CPA student/candidate events and community engagement activities.

Four chapters have donated a total of $10,300 to fund awards at the following post secondary institutions across BC:

  • CPABC Kamloops / Cariboo Chapter donated $1,000 to fund an existing scholarship at Thompson Rivers University through to 2019/20;
  • CPABC Okanagan Chapter donated $6,300 to fund existing awards at two local post secondary institutions.   There are two $1,500 awards at Okanagan College and two $2,000 awards at UBC|Okanagan for 2018/19;
  • CPABC Prince George Chapter donated $2,000 to fund a new $1,000 scholarship at the University of Northern British Columbia through to 2019/20. This award has been approved by the UNBC Senate; and
  • CPABC Richmond/S.Delta Chapter pledged $2,000 to fund a new $1,000 scholarship at Kwantlen Polytechnic University through to 2019/20.

All of these awards are adjudicated by the faculty of the respective schools.   Recipients must demonstrate scholastic achievement, demonstrate community service or leadership, and have the intent to enter the Chartered Professional Accountant program.

Brenda Waechter FCPA FCGA, CPAEF board chair, said, “The CPA Education Foundation thanks chapter members for their generosity in supporting local accounting students.”
