Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) School of Business hosted their annual 2017 Scholarships and Awards Dinner on October 25, 2017 at the River Rock Whistler Ballroom in Richmond.
The dinner was an opportunity for the CPA Education Foundation (CPAEF) and other donors to meet KPU’s outstanding award recipients. The evening’s master of ceremonies was Wayne Tebb, Dean of KPU’s School of Business, who provided the official welcome and opening remarks.
Tebb was followed by Robert Scott, a student speaker and award recipient, who shared his moving story of what support through scholarships and awards meant to him.
Dr. Alan Davis, KPU president and vice-chancellor, provided closing remarks by congratulating students and thanking donors for their financial support.
Also in attendance was Dr. Peter Podovinikoff CPA CGA who serves as a director of the KPU Foundation.
The CPA Education Foundation awarded two $2,500 awards to Benjamin Amisano and Hazel Mae Yu (pictured below).
The CPABC Surrey/Langley/NDelta Chapter Scholarship was presented to Michael Wong, who is pictured with Brenda Waechter FCPA FCGA, chair of the CPAEF Board. In addition to the above mentioned awards, the CPAEF supports KPU faculty development by inviting Academic members to a biennial Accounting Academic Symposium as well proving each of the academic members a complimentary two-day PD Pass which can be used for sessions offered through the CPABC PD Program.
These programs help to advance accounting education in BC.
